2016 Schwarze Sonne dry organic* (Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser)
The sun is not only the reason why viticulture is possible on earth - its strength significantly influences which grape varieties ripen and also how ripe they become. In our estate there is a steep, south-facing location characterized by limestone - 35°C in the shade quickly turns to 10°C more here. What any work on the vines during midday is sure to lead to heat stroke is exactly the right climate for the Cabernet Sauvignon vines.
The tasters of the renowned Eichelmann wine guide have this to say: "...with the full-bodied, cassis-scented Schwarze Sonne Cuvée based on Cabernet Sauvignon, there is also an absolute highlight in the red segment." In short: it's just right for cold winter days by the fireplace or with a good book.
As a 2016 vintage, it's currently perfectly on point in its second drinking window. There's a nice balance in the wine with a drinking flow that you are used to with Neverland.
2019 Saint Vendersheim Cuvée Prestige dry ORGANIC* (Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir)
"Almost opaque ruby red in the glass. Black currant, undergrowth, red plum, some leather on the nose. Ripe on the palate with soft, attractive fruit density, black cherry is added, tannins are present at the same time, playing with different worlds of red wine." Falstaff wine guide
The last few years with fantastic summers have shown that our Cabernet Sauvignons produce grapes on calcareous soils that catapult us into other regions. And so, in 2019 we selectively picked our ripe Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir grapes by hand and then spontaneously fermented them on the mash. Ageing the wine in 225L barrique barrels over 20 months gave it even more breadth, depth and balance.
When the young wines were ready to go, we cuvéed this cuvée in Vendersheim together with Felix Fuchs, sommelier at the Tulus Lotrek restaurant (★, Berlin).
We are thrilled about this exciting taste experience, which is currently giving us a lot of pleasure in its first drinking window, and always showing us new facets and a foretaste of the future. The development he is currently making makes the heart of every wine explorer beat faster, something is happening here; sometimes subtle, sometimes more succinct.
